At 726.6 feet  (221.3 meters) high, Hoover Dam is listed as one of the world's tallest dams and is the second tallest dam in the United States.  Only Orville Dam is slightly taller

Construction began in 1931 and was finally complete in 1935.  Hoover Dam is still considered a marvel in the engineering world.

It's reservoir, Lake Meade, is the nation's largest artificial man-made lake.

Hoover Dam helped transform the American West, harnessing the force of the Colorado River — along with millions of cubic feet of concrete and tens of millions of pounds of steel — to power millions of homes and businesses.

Hoover Dam generates, on average, about 4 billion kilowatt-hours of hydroelectric power each year for use in Nevada, Arizona, and California - enough to serve 1.3 million people.

This amazing tour will take you past Boulder City, where workers lived during construction and may, at your choice, stop at Hoover Dam Lodge for refreshments.
